The Stinson SistersBy Women FlyIn 1912, Katherine Stinson earned her pilot's license as a way to capitalize on the nations latest craze in exhibition flying. Her plan was to raise enough money to go to Europe to study music, however she discovered that she loved flying more, and sold her piano to fund her new passion. Her sister Marjorie, encouraged by her sister's success, also earned a pilot's license and together with their mother and brother, started a flight school in San Antonio, Texas. Both later had careers in drafting and architecture.
