Beryl Markham By Women Fly
Romantic design honoring a daring pilot and talented writer.
"I learned what every dreaming child needs to know - no horizon is so far that you cannot see above or beyond it."
As a young girl, Beryl Markham was moved from her English birthplace to Kenya, a country that would become her true homeland. She became the first woman in Africa to earn a pilots license. Accompanied only by her compass, Beryl flew countless rescue missions over dangerous, uncharted territory. In 1936, she became the first pilot to make a solo Transatlantic flight, east to west, from England. Beryl wrote about her extraordinary life in a book entitled "West With the Night", a poetic account that brilliantly reveals her passion.
